Capri Boat Tour from Seiano
Seiano is the sea-level hamlet of Vico Equense — a working fishing village tucked at the base of the cliffs, with its own small port and the volcanic black sand of Pezzolo beach. It is one of the most authentic embarkation points on the Sorrento coast. The shared Capri tour departs from Sorrento's Marina Piccola twenty-five minutes away; for guests who prefer to board from the village itself, BlueKeys arranges private charters directly from Porto di Seiano.

A Capri boat day from Seiano can take two distinct shapes. The first is the scheduled shared tour: a driver collects you from your Seiano hotel, B&B or address along the cliff road and brings you to Sorrento's Marina Piccola in about twenty-five minutes via the SS145 and the Sorrento descent. Boarding is 8:30–9:30, the crossing to Capri takes 25–40 minutes, and the day includes the Faraglioni Arch passage, the Blue Grotto (entry €14 per person, paid on site), the White Grotto and quiet bays for swimming and snorkelling. Browse all Capri tours. Shared tours start from €80 per person; the transfer is a separate add-on. See live pricing for the Seiano to Sorrento transfer.
The second option is what makes Seiano special: a private charter that leaves directly from Porto di Seiano. This is the village's real working port — fishermen still bring in their catch on the same quay where you embark — and the charter avoids any road transfer entirely. The crossing to Capri is 45–55 minutes, slightly longer than from Sorrento, but you start the day at the water's edge below the Vico Equense cliffs, watching the morning light on Vesuvius across the gulf. We charter gozzos, day cruisers and yachts for two to twelve guests, each with a licensed skipper who knows every inlet between Seiano and Punta Campanella. Half-day charters start from €600; full-day Capri itineraries with lunch at anchor are typically €900–€1,500. Explore private boat options.
Seiano itself is a place worth exploring. The black-sand Pezzolo beach is reachable by a narrow road descent or, in summer, by a small lift from Vico Equense above. The marine borgo has a handful of seafood trattorias where lunch lasts three hours and tables fill with local families on Sunday — Da Peppina, Trattoria del Mare and the small spaghetterias along the seafront. The volcanic geology here means the beach water warms slowly in May and stays warm into October, often a degree or two above the temperatures of more famous bays further along the coast. Above the cliffs, Vico Equense offers the legendary pizza al metro at Gigino — many guests build a perfect day around a morning charter and an evening pizza. More things to do near Sorrento.
Logistics: free parking is widely available in Seiano along Via Murrano and the Marina road, much easier than central Sorrento in summer. The Circumvesuviana stops at Seiano station (one stop east of Vico Equense), connecting to Sorrento in 10–12 minutes for guests preferring rail. Boat tour returns are typically 16:30–18:00 from Marina Piccola, plus 25–30 minutes road transfer to Seiano. For private charters returning directly to Porto di Seiano, you can land at any time agreed with your skipper — late afternoon, sunset or even after dark for night-mooring under the lit cliffs. Bring high-SPF sunscreen, hat, polarised sunglasses, waterproof phone pouch, light layers and small notes for the Blue Grotto rowboat.
BlueKeys operators follow the Gulf of Naples National Park guidelines — no anchoring on protected seagrass beds, no single-use plastics aboard, motors off during swim stops. The Blue Grotto can close in rough seas (8–15 days per season); the skipper checks conditions the night before and offers the White Grotto, Green Grotto and longer swimming as alternatives. All boats have child life jackets and snorkelling masks in kid sizes for younger guests. The Faraglioni Arch passage is the day's photographic highlight — sit forward for the best view.

Preguntas frecuentes
Preguntas frecuentes
Can the Capri boat tour actually depart from Porto di Seiano?
Yes — for private charters. Porto di Seiano is the working port of the Seiano hamlet and we arrange direct embarkation here for private boats. The scheduled shared tour, however, departs from Sorrento's Marina Piccola; we arrange the short road transfer (25 min).
How much does a Capri tour from Seiano cost?
Shared scheduled tours start at €80 per person plus a short road transfer to Sorrento. Private charters from Porto di Seiano start at €600 for half a day. See live transfer pricing on our Seiano to Sorrento page.
How long is the crossing to Capri from Seiano?
About 45–55 minutes by gozzo from Porto di Seiano, slightly faster by motorboat. From Sorrento's Marina Piccola the crossing is 25–40 minutes.
What is the difference between Seiano and Vico Equense for a Capri day?
Vico Equense is the cliff-top town; Seiano is its marine hamlet at sea level. Vico has the cathedral, Gigino pizza and the train station; Seiano has the working port and Pezzolo beach. Both are excellent bases — and they're connected by a steep road and a summer lift.
Is parking easy in Seiano?
Yes — free street parking is widely available along Via Murrano and the marina road. Much easier than central Sorrento or Marina Piccola in summer.
What's the food scene like in Seiano?
Authentic seafood trattorias — Da Peppina, Trattoria del Mare and several small spaghetterias along the seafront. Sundays fill with local families; lunches run long. Pair lunch with an aperitivo on Pezzolo beach for a complete afternoon.
Can we book just a private charter without the shared tour?
Absolutely — private charters from Porto di Seiano are designed to bypass the Sorrento Marina Piccola embarkation entirely. Set your own itinerary, your own pace, your own start time.
