Sunset Cruise Along the Amalfi Coast

There is no finer way to end a day on the Amalfi Coast than watching the sun dip below the horizon from the deck of a boat. The limestone cliffs glow amber and gold, the sea turns molten, and the villages light up one by one along the darkening shoreline. BlueKeys offers sunset cruises departing from Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento every evening from May through October.

About our boat tours

Our sunset cruises depart between 17:00 and 18:00 depending on the month. You board a classic gozzo boat or a modern open-deck vessel, settle into cushioned seating and receive a welcome glass of prosecco as the boat glides away from the harbour. The skipper steers along the coast, passing sea stacks, hidden grottoes and cliff-face restaurants where diners wave from their terraces.

As the light changes, the coastline transforms — Positano's coloured houses glow warm pink, Praiano's church catches the last rays, and the sea shifts from blue to copper to deep violet. Your skipper will anchor in a calm bay for a swimming stop in the golden-hour light, an experience that photographs beautifully but feels even better in person.

On board you will find prosecco (or Aperol Spritz), local appetisers — bruschetta, marinated anchovies, buffalo mozzarella bites — fresh fruit and soft drinks. BlueKeys can also arrange special touches for proposals, anniversaries or birthdays: champagne, a cake, flowers or a musician at the dock on your return.

Sunset cruises last approximately two to two and a half hours. Private charters offer full flexibility on timing and route. Group sunset tours carry six to ten guests and are a wonderful way to meet fellow travellers. Staying nearby? Book a holiday home in Positano or a Sorrento apartment walking distance from the port.

Bring a light cardigan or windbreaker — temperatures drop once the sun dips below the horizon and the sea breeze picks up. Sunglasses, sunscreen and a camera with good low-light performance are essential. The best months for sunset cruises are June through September when skies are clear and golden hour lasts longest.

Group cruises (6–10 guests) are sociable and affordable, starting from about €65 per person with prosecco and appetisers included. Private sunset charters start from €350 and give you the freedom to choose the route, the music and the moment — ideal for couples or intimate celebrations where every detail matters.

All BlueKeys sunset boats carry full safety equipment including life jackets, navigation lights and a first-aid kit. Our skippers hold professional licences and know these waters intimately. We follow eco-friendly practices — low-wake cruising near the shore, no single-use plastics on board and reef-safe products only. Enjoying the coast responsibly means future visitors will see the same beauty you do.
