Sunset Snorkelling
For a truly memorable experience, book a sunset snorkelling excursion departing around 17:00 in summer. As the light turns golden, the underwater colours shift and the activity of marine life increases — octopus emerge from their lairs, moray eels peek from crevices, and schools of silverside fish shimmer in the fading light. The boat returns to port as the first stars appear over Capri. A glass of local white wine and a selection of bruschette are served on board.
What Marine Life to Expect
The waters along this coast support a surprising diversity of marine life for a popular tourist area. You may spot barracuda, amberjack, flying fish, seahorses, starfish, and — if you are lucky — a loggerhead sea turtle passing through on its migration route. How much does a snorkelling tour cost?
Group snorkelling tours start from around €45 per person for a half-day (3–4 hours). Private boat snorkelling charters for up to 8 people range from €350 to €600 depending on duration and itinerary. Sunset snorkelling trips are approximately €65 per person including aperitivo.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No, you do not need to be a strong swimmer. Lifejackets and neoprene vests are provided for buoyancy. The guide stays with the group at all times. However, you should be comfortable in the water and able to float. Non-swimmers can stay on the boat and enjoy the scenery.
Are snorkelling tours suitable for families with children?
Absolutely. Children aged 5 and over are welcome on all our snorkelling tours. Family-friendly excursions anchor in shallow, sheltered bays. Child-sized masks, snorkels and lifejackets are provided. Children under 5 can join the boat trip but are not recommended for in-water snorkelling.
Is snorkelling equipment provided?
Yes, all tours include high-quality mask, snorkel, fins and a neoprene vest. If you prefer to use your own mask for comfort, you are welcome to bring it. Underwater cameras are available for rent on some tours.

When is the best season for snorkelling?
The snorkelling season runs from May to October. June and September offer the best combination of warm water (23–26 °C), excellent visibility and fewer crowds. July and August are warmest but busier. Water is swimmable into late October in mild years.
Can I book a sunset snorkelling tour?
Yes, sunset snorkelling tours depart around 17:00 from June to September. The tour includes snorkelling at a sheltered cove, an aperitivo on board (wine, bruschette, fruit) and a cruise back to port under the stars. It is our most popular experience for couples.
