Capri Tours
Capri is the jewel of the Gulf of Naples — a glamorous island of dramatic sea cliffs, the famous Blue Grotto, the iconic Faraglioni rock stacks, and a town centre that has seduced emperors, artists and celebrities for two millennia. BlueKeys organises Capri tours from Sorrento and Positano by fast boat, combining the thrill of the sea crossing with guided island exploration. Prices start from €65 per person, with departures most mornings throughout the season.

The Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) is Capri's most famous natural wonder — a sea cave lit by an extraordinary turquoise light created when sunlight passes through an underwater opening and reflects off the white sandy bottom. Access is by rowboat from the sea-level entrance, and visitors must lie flat to pass inside. Entry is possible only when sea conditions allow, typically from late April to October. Our Capri boat tours include a Blue Grotto stop, though entry fees (approximately €16 per person) are paid on-site to the local rowing cooperative.
The Faraglioni are three towering sea stacks that rise dramatically from the water off Capri's southeastern tip. Sailing between the arches of the Faraglioni is a highlight of every Capri boat tour — the framing of the Mediterranean beyond the rock arch creates one of the most photographed images in Italy. Our skipper knows every angle and will slow down so you can take the perfect shot. Browse Capri boat tours for departure times from Sorrento.
Getting to Capri: boat versus ferry. Public ferries and hydrofoils run from Naples (55 minutes), Sorrento (25 minutes) and Positano (55 minutes). However, a public ferry means queuing, fixed schedules and a crowded departure hall. Our Capri tour boats depart at your reserved time, anchor at scenic spots en route, pass by the Faraglioni and offer a far more memorable sea crossing. For groups of four or more, the price difference between a ferry and our boat tour is modest, and the experience is incomparable.
On the island itself, the main sights divide between Capri Town and Anacapri. Capri Town is the glamorous hub — Via Camerelle with its luxury boutiques, the Piazzetta (Piazza Umberto I) where the famous Campari-soda ritual plays out, and the Gardens of Augustus with their panoramic views over the Faraglioni. Anacapri, reached by local bus or taxi, is quieter and home to the Villa San Michele (a stunning early 20th-century house and museum) and the Monte Solaro chairlift to the island's highest point at 589 metres.
The best time to visit Capri is May, June and September. July and August are extremely crowded — Capri Town can feel more like a Milanese shopping street than a Mediterranean island in peak weeks. Capri also restricts the number of tourist boats and private vehicles in summer — another reason to book early and choose a reputable operator like BlueKeys who reserves slots in advance. Morning arrivals before 11:00 avoid the cruise ship crowds that typically start disembarking around noon.
Combining a Capri tour with an Amalfi Coast stay is the ultimate southern Italy itinerary. Start with a boat trip from Positano to explore the coast's hidden coves, then dedicate a full day to Capri by fast boat from Sorrento. Round off with an evening Amalfi Coast tour and a sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea. BlueKeys can arrange all three experiences and suggest the best accommodation to use as your base — where to stay on the Amalfi Coast.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Capri tour cost?
Capri boat tours from Sorrento start from €65 per person for a group departure including the sea crossing and guided island time. Private boat charters to Capri range from €400 to €900 depending on the boat and duration. Blue Grotto entry (approximately €16) and island transport (cable car, chairlift) are additional costs paid on site.
Is it better to take a boat or a ferry to Capri?
A dedicated tour boat is far better for the experience. Public ferries are convenient for independent travellers but offer no stops, no guide and no flexibility. A BlueKeys boat pauses at the Faraglioni, includes a Blue Grotto stop and provides personal attention from a local skipper throughout. For groups, the cost difference is minimal.
How long does a Capri tour take?
A standard Capri day tour from Sorrento runs approximately 8–9 hours: 25 minutes crossing each way, 1–2 hours at sea around the island (Blue Grotto, Faraglioni, natural arch), and 4–5 hours on the island itself. Our earliest departures leave around 9:00 and return around 17:30–18:00.
Can you see the Blue Grotto on a Capri tour?
Yes, all our Capri tours include a Blue Grotto stop. However, entry inside the grotto depends on sea conditions — if the swell exceeds 40 cm, the entrance is too low to enter safely and remains closed. This happens on approximately 25–30% of days. In this case we tour around the grotto exterior, which is still spectacular.
What is there to do in Capri besides the Blue Grotto?
Capri has remarkable variety: the Piazzetta and luxury shopping in Capri Town; the Gardens of Augustus with Faraglioni views; the Villa San Michele in Anacapri; the Monte Solaro chairlift (589 m); swimming at the Marina Piccola beach; hiking the Via Krupp; and boat tours around the entire island perimeter past sea caves, natural arches and the White Grotto.
When is the best time to visit Capri?
May, June and September are ideal — warm weather, open Blue Grotto, and manageable crowds. July and August are very crowded and some visitor restrictions apply. April and October are quieter but the Blue Grotto may close more frequently due to weather. Avoid arriving in Capri between 11:00 and 14:00 when cruise ship passengers are on the island.
Can I do Capri as a day trip from the Amalfi Coast?
Yes, absolutely. Capri is easily done as a day trip from Sorrento (25 min by fast ferry or boat), Positano (55 min) or Amalfi (75 min). We recommend departing as early as possible — 8:30–9:00 from Sorrento — to maximise your time on the island before the crowds arrive. Our tours handle all logistics so you can focus on the experience.
